Police announce round of promotions
More than a hundred members of the Belize Police Department have received promotions. Allen Whylie is now an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Keith Lino, Chester Williams, Miguel Segura and Robert Marino all have the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police. Head of Crimes Investigation Branch Aaron Guzman and Officer in charge of the Tourism Police, Desiree Phillips, have been promoted to Superintendents of Police and Commander of the Central Intelligence Unit, Alford Grinage, has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent. Speaking on the changes, Commissioner of Police Gerald Westby is quoted in the police release as congratulating all the officers and concedes that while “many more were deserving, the established vacancies do not allow for all additional promotions”. The most recent major changes in the police high command occurred last May.
