Driver arrested in fatal hit and run
A pedestrian has been killed in a hit and run on the Western Highway but the suspected driver has been arrested and charged. According to police, sometime before eight Tuesday morning, forty-two year old Camelo Rash of Cotton Tree Village was walking east on the right side of the road when he was hit by a white Jeep Cherokee. The SUV, traveling in the opposite direction, was in the process of overtaking another vehicle. The jeep did not stop to render aid and Rash was subsequently declared dead on arrival at Western Regional Hospital. Police investigations led them to seventy-four year old Honduran, Fermin Harry, a resident of Lubaantun Street in Belmopan. Harry was arrested and charged with Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Failing to Stop and Render Aid and Failing to Report an Accident.
