One dead in Northern Highway traffic mishap

A taxi man from Corozal Town is dead following a head-on collision between his minivan and a car on the Northern Highway this morning. The mishap occurred near Ranchito Village around seven thirty and claimed the life of Alvin Leslie of Seventh Avenue. Police say Leslie was heading towards Orange Walk Town when the car, traveling in the opposite direction, was negotiating a left turn into a feeder road. The van ran into the right side of the car then overturned. Leslie suffered severe head and body injuries and died on arrival at Corozal Hospital. The driver of the car, forty-one year old Marvin Martinez of San Joaquin Village, received serious injuries and remains hospitalised at the Northern Regional Hospital in serious condition. Forty-two year old Rose Orosco, who was a passenger in Leslie’s van, received minor injuries. Police investigations continue.
