Robert’s Grove takes top hotel prize in B.T.B. awards

On Friday night, more than three hundred members of Belize’s tourism industry participated in the eighth annual National Tourism Awards ceremony. During the event, thirteen awards were distributed. The Inn at Robert’s Grove was recognised as Hotel of the Year and Orange Walk’s Orchid Palm took best small hotel. Placencia’s Joy Tours was named Tour Operator of 2008 while Alex Edwards of Hugh Parkey’s Dive Connection was the Tour Guide of the Year. Other honours included best receptive service which went to Fort Street Tourism Village and best education project, claimed by Programme for Belize. This year’s Minister’s award went to Azucena “Chena” Galvez while Lascelle Tillett of S & L Tours received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Andy Palacio and Stone Tree Records were also honoured by the Belize Tourism Board with the cultural award of the year.
