Brazilian Embassy invites guitar duo to play for Sept. celebration
It’s virtually every upcoming musician’s dream to tour the world doing what they love. And one Brazilian guitar duo is doing just that. The duo, João Luiz and Douglas Lora, made a stop in Belize as part of our September celebrations courtesy of the Brazilian Embassy. They were guests on this morning’s Open Your Eyes breakfast show and along with some information on their style of music; the duo gave us a taste of their talents.
João Luiz, Brazilian Guitar Duo
“We both started with popular music but we moved to classical and we—you can learn more about the technique of the music. The repertoire is more developed.”
Douglas Lora, Brazilian Guitar Duo
“I think we bring something new to the classical guitar universe, to the classical music scene in general and our country has a strong tradition of guitar duos. We had two amazing duos before us or three. The Abreu brothers and the Assad brothers are the most famous nowadays. And we are coming now with a new repertoire and we—because we do believe in what we do I think that… and of course, the Brazilian music is very welcomed anywhere in the world. People love it and there’s so much besides — that has to be shown.”
