Rotary raffles new wheels for “Gift of Life”

Story PictureOver the last decade the Rotary Gift of Life has helped over three hundred Belizean children receive life saving cardiac care. To assist those patients and countless others with heart conditions, the programme relies on donations from businesses and the general public. In their latest fundraising attempt, Rotary has found a way to give back to contributors.

Yvette Burks, Coordinator, Gift of Life
“This year our fundraising chairman, Eddie Bouloy, has decided that a good way to do this is to raise funds is by raffling a fully loaded 2008 Isuzu DMAX truck. So we are raffling only one thousand tickets, so the chances are really, really good. better than Lotto, better than Boledo, better than lot ah things out there and of course the whole idea is that you are contributing, you are contributing one hundred dollars to the Gift of Life programme and with your contribution which will go toward a child’s health and life certainly you will be entered and have the opportunity to win this Isuzu truck.”

“I should also mention that this truck is ready to go. You just drive it off the lot and go. The idea is that we raise enough funds to pay just cost for the truck and the customs duties. There should be no cost to the winner, so once you were the lucky person to win this truck, you just drive away with your new ride.”

“Where can people get tickets?”

Yvette Burks
“From Mala’s from Love FM, from any of your friendly Rotarians, from H2Tech.”

“We host two semi-annual clinics. One is about to happen again. It was supposed to be the sixth and seventh of February but of course we are all going to be voting on the seventh of February so we have a one-day clinic which will be an extremely busy clinic here in Belize City, Karl Heusner on February sixth. We do that twice a year Kendra and we send of many, many children. We have a child leaving on this coming Wednesday, we have one who is there right now, we have children lined up and every dollar we collect, every dollar we collect, at least ninety-nine cents goes to the cause.”

The Isuzu DMax is valued at seventy thousand dollars. Raffle tickets can also be bought from Burks who can be contacted at phone number 223-3292.
