Traffic accident leaves 1 dead, 5 injured

Details remain sketchy but reports are that around four this evening a head on collision on the Southern highway has left one person dead and five others injured. Witnesses tell News Five that it appears a tow head truck was heading towards Dangriga when it collided with a pick-up truck that was exiting the Hopkins road. Five adults and two children were seriously injured in the crash and were rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital for treatment. News Five’s sources at the hospital say the youngest passenger in the pick-up, two year old Jafhon Valentine, the most severely injured, died in the accident. His grandfather, fifty-eight year old Charles Rubio, who was driving at the time, was also seriously wounded and has been airlifted to Belize City for medical treatment.
