Businessman conned by crooked money changer

Another businessman was reportedly swindled out of a large amount of cash and police are looking for the perpetrator. According to thirty-five year old Yuan Qing Situ, sometime around three on Tuesday afternoon he was at Atlantic Restaurant on the Northern Highway when a man he knew only as “Ali” offered to change Belize currency into U.S. Yuan says the man then took him to a house in the Belama area where he gave Ali twenty-eight thousand two hundred and eighty dollars in cash to change. He alleges that Ali then told him to wait on the street for him and he’d bring back the U.S. money. However, Ali never returned. Yuan said he knocked on the door and when no one answered, realized he had been conned.
