Two sons already killed, third Felix son wounded

Less than two months ago Therese Felix lost her second of five sons to gun violence. Today a third son is recuperating from bullet wounds in the second attempt on his life. The incident occurred sometime after nine last night while twenty year old Kenroy Bennett was at a friend’s house on Jane Usher Boulevard. Bennett reportedly heard a noise outside and went to the door to check what it was, only to be hit by bullets in the left hand, leg and buttocks. The gunman reportedly wore a white T-shirt and a stocking over his face. While her son survived, Felix says someone is playing a game too close for her comfort.

“This da di second time he get shot. He get shot di seventh of September last year eena ih back. Ih get shot again last night.”

“Why you think this di happen to your kids, Ms. Therese? Are they being targeted?”

Therese Felix
“Well I noh know if they’re being targeted or what you know. I noh know if they have problem with anybody; all I want da some answers. They kill Tyrone, I noh get no anwers, I noh get no justice. I left that like that. Deh kill Faron, deh got two person hold and I wah wait fi see what wah come outta dat. Now Roy again, all I wahn know da why.”

“Well Roy, I ask Roy last night, but then di police mi deh deh and they mi di tend to ah. So I noh gone back deh from last night, I fi go look fi he this morning too.”

“Now Ms. Therese you have people who wah seh it can’t be coincidental, you can’t be so bad lucked. Your sons must be involved eena something.”

“Like I seh, when yu children reach wah certain age Marion, all you could do dah talk and talk and do the best weh you could do with your children them. When I walk di streets–since Tyrone dead I mek up dis thing, I walk and I ask other young bwai, if unu and my son got something I da really want they tell me. They just tell me, “Ms. Ther me and your children no have nothing.” That’s why when Kenroy got shot the last time it surprise me.”

“My son’s court matter last year September the seventh; I send my son da Benny’s gone get wah application form because I hear they mi have vacancy. Coming back he get shot eena his back and he identify the two person. So I noh know if da di person they got somebody out yah, they must di try kill he now fi mek he noh goh talk da court.”

“Well we don’t have a motive but we do have a lead. We have one suspect we are looking for and at this time as we speak, this suspect, we have a team of police officers looking for this suspect.He would face charges of Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.”

“Is he somebody that Bennett knows? Are they acquaintances, are they friends? What are they, this suspect you’re looking for.”

“We don’t have that information if they knew each other because, as I say, we have a lot of information we are still working on.”

Police have had better luck in Orange Walk, where a suspect caught in the act of sawing through a home’s burglar bars early Tuesday morning has been identified as eighteen year old Henry Queme. He has been charged with Burglary and Damage to Property.
