Police uncover 1,000 marijuana plants in home

Story PictureA Rock Stone Pond resident was arraigned in Magistrates’ Court today on one count of Cultivation of Cannabis. The charge follows a huge bust by police when they searched the home of Ernel Herbert early this morning. The cops found one thousand weed plants on Herbert’s property and hauled him off to the station. He pleaded not guilty to the charge in court and was granted bail of five thousand dollars, which he met by four this evening. Herbert is to return to court on October twenty-ninth.

Meanwhile, Herbert’s cousin Lincoln Herbert and his wife Dawn were also in court this morning, charged with Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition. A search conducted at their home, yielded a sixteen gauge shotgun and twenty-seven live rounds of ammunition, which belonged to Lincoln’s deceased father. They both pleaded not guilty and Lincoln claimed that the police were aware that he is in the process of having the weapon license transferred to him. But because it was a firearm offense, Magistrate Aretha Ford could not offer them bail and had both Lincoln and Maria remanded until October eighth.
