Two detained in Dangriga robbery
Two men await charges in Dangriga following a robbery and stabbing that left a deliveryman for Belize Western Energy injured. Fifty-one year old Marino Lucas reported to police that around ten on Monday morning he was on George Price Drive when a youth stopped him and said he needed gas in the Lakeland Area. The customer then reportedly got into Lucas’ vehicle but instead of heading to Lakeland, directed him to a back street in the Rivas Estate area to pick up a gas tank. When they reached the spot, however, a man with a knife was waiting to pounce on the driver. The attack left Lucas with four stab wounds to the shoulders and back, none of which were life-threatening. The culprits then relieved him of around a thousand dollars, the proceeds from the day’s sales. Lucas received treatment for his injuries at the Southern Regional Hospital and police have detained two suspects pending charges.
