New citizens descend on Belmopan for swearing in
With elections less than a month away politicians are trying to get as many voters registered as possible. Today the scene at the Immigration Department in Belmopan was one of chaos as hundreds of people who had previously applied for citizenship arrived to receive their final paperwork. From immigration, applicants walked or drove to the George Price Center where they were sworn in as citizens of Belize. Personnel from Plus TV in the nation’s capital, who filed this report, sought to shoot footage of the multiple ceremonies but were not allowed to do so.
