Conman collects money, never delivers cars

Used car salesmen are notorious for their ability to stretch the truth, but tonight Belize City police are looking for a man who sold vehicles that didn’t even exist. According to investigators, in September a smooth talking hustler identified himself as Robert Villanueva to Farmers’ Market businesswoman Kim Wai Chee and agreed to sell her a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo for nine thousand three hundred dollars. Chee says she handed over the cash but Villanueva never showed up with the car.

Later that same month, James Swan Senior says he and Villanueva also struck a deal involving a vehicle. According to Swan, Villanueva was to travel to the United States to buy a1999 Nissan Infinity. Villanueva left the country with three thousand two hundred dollars of Swan’s cash but Swan has yet to see the car or his money.

If you know the whereabouts of Robert Villanueva, please contact the nearest police station or Crimestoppers at 0-800-922-8477.
