Announcement comes Monday; elections likely Feb. 6
All the speculation about the date of general elections will end on Monday. That’s the day Prime Minister Said Musa will finally let the official cat out of the bag. The announcement may come as early as a prayer breakfast to be held Monday morning in Belize City. That meeting with the nation’s religious leaders and including the full Cabinet will be held at the Princess Hotel beginning at eight. If the P.M. manages to keep his secret through the fry fish and Johnny cakes, he will certainly reveal his plans to a gathering of the thirty-one P.U.P. candidates scheduled for three Monday afternoon at Independence Hall on Queen Street. That pep rally will be followed by a press conference. And what date will be chosen? Virtually all our sources point to Wednesday, February sixth.
