Eight Belizeans to receive Queen’s honours
Sticking to tradition, on Friday the Belizeans selected for New Year Honours by the Queen were announced. Receiving the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George to be a Knight Commander is Barry Mansfield Bowen for his contribution to commerce and industry. In the Civil Division, Dr. Kenrick Leslie will be recognized for his dedication to Meteorology and Science. Receiving the distinction of Ordinary Officers of the British Empire are Brigadier General Lloyd Gillett and Commissioner of Police Gerald Westby for their efforts in National Defence and Community Service. The other Belizeans to be awarded are Alan Burn, for services to maritime industries, Crispin Jeffries and Yolanda Murray for service to the Belize Police Department and Dr. Arlie Petters for his commitment to Science and Education. The Queen distributes such awards annually on the advice of the Government of Belize.
