Thieves busted red-handed in Belize City…

Story PictureA purse snatching rarely makes the headlines, but when Belize City residents band together to catch the thief, it’s time to stop the press. Police reports are that twenty-seven year old Billa Marquina was shopping at a boutique on Cemetery Road when a man grabbed her bag and took off. But pedestrians on the street rushed to the woman’s aid and managed to beat the thief into submission until the cops arrived. The bruised jacker has been identified as twenty-three year old Leon Walford. Walford has been charged with Theft.

Meanwhile, a Belize City homeowner also got his pound of flesh from an intruder on Thursday morning. According to Eve Street resident James Bradley, he heard strange sounds coming from the first floor of his home and when he went downstairs to investigate, he found a stranger in his house. As in the first case, Bradley used his fists on the man until the police showed up. The burglar has been identified as fifty year old Michael White, who was released from Hattieville Prison in April. White appeared in court today and was remanded until February nineteenth.
