…And publish new magazine for Police Department
Today the Belize Police Department introduced a new Magazine aimed at highlighting the lighter side of policing. The free publication, called “Palladium”, a Police Digest, is edited by Sherlette Lopez, a member of the Department’s civilian staff.

“What it started off was as a pictorial display chronicling some of the achievements that we have seen in the department for the previous year. But we decided that you know what, this department has a rich, rich history and of course these are some of the things I learned as I did my research. And these are stuff dating back to 1856, in the 1850s when it was the British Honduras Constabulary Force and these were information that I thought were rich and that we needed to bring out to the public and so you’ll see a lot of the history of the Department coming out here”
“Many times you hear about P.C. number so, or Sergeant number so, but we wanted to show that these people have a life, these people have families that they go home to, not just the policing side, but the human side. And so as I said, I’m very proud to be a part of the editorial committee for this magazine. I’m very, very enthusiastic about it”
The magazine also focuses on community policing initiatives. It is sponsored by the business community through advertisements. The book took four months to complete and the plan is to produce it quarterly.
