Cops will give toys, groceries in community initiative
As reported earlier, the police are extra busy these days, but not just fighting crime. Tomorrow officers around the city will be distributing toys and groceries to deserving families. It’s all part of the Yabra Community Policing Centre’s fourth Christmas drive under the supervision of Inspector Diana Hall.
Inspector Diana Hall, O.C., Community Policing, Belize District
“We started in October sending out letters to the business community and we have over two hundred toys here and we have like twenty-five boxes of groceries to give to the needy that the Zone officers have identified around the city.”

“Okay, so this is not only for the Yarborough area or the Port area?”
Insp. Diana Hall
“No, it’s for the entire city. We go around different zones. Each officer is responsible for a zone and they identify the people in the zone. … You get a lot of happy faces from the kids and it’s a good feeling to see the children happy and also the families that we give groceries to. It really makes a difference for them.”
On Saturday Senior Superintendent Chester Williams will host one hundred children from throughout the city for dinner at the Yabra Community Policing Centre.
