Delivery men hit in three city robberies
On yesterday’s newscast we reported on a purse snatching committed against one of our staff members. Apparently that wasn’t the only jacking to occur on Tuesday. According to police the driver of a Grace Kennedy delivery truck was held up around eleven-thirty in the morning on Jasmine Street. The assailant, armed with a handgun, escaped with over eleven hundred dollars in company cash and another two hundred sixty one dollars belonging to the driver.
An hour later, on Baghdad Street, another collector for Santiago Castillo Ltd., was making a business call on Fairweather Street around four-fifteen when he was accosted by a man brandishing a rusty handgun. Rusty or not, the threat was enough to enable the robber to depart with his victim’s money bag containing thirteen hundred dollars in cash.
The police are warning all businesses involved in making deliveries with cash transactions to be extra vigilant, particularly in the run up to Christmas.
