Kendal River back to normal levels
There is good news for persons who could not get pass the low lying bridge at the Kendal River on Monday. The crossing was deemed passable and re-opened to traffic as of this morning. That is after the water rose to over twenty feet, which is almost eleven feet higher than the low lying bridge. Fortunately, the water receded quickly and was well below the level of the crossing today. Ava Kelly of the Sittee River community provided us with pictures of the water levels on Monday. She also noted that up until two that afternoon, there were only a few people on the site clearing away trees that had fallen in the area; none of whom were from the Ministry of Works. Viewers would recall that the Bailey Bridge gifted to Belize by the U.S. was deployed to other parts in the country so that the Kendall crossing remains without a permanent bridge.
