Two more detained in cheque scam
Further investigations into the scam in which forged government cheques were used to purchase over a hundred thousand dollars worth of outboard engines, has resulted in the detention of two more suspects. The persons being held by police in Dangriga are both government employees, one from the Medical Department and the other from Labour. Already charged with a battery of fraud related offences is twenty-nine year old Lino Herrera of Dangriga. It is alleged that Herrera used forged cheques issued by the government of Belize to purchase a number of outboards and accessories from William Quan and Company, Marelco, and Marine Imports Limited.
