Correction: Valley Road accident victim injured, not dead

Story PictureIt was Mark Twain who, reacting to a premature obituary, was heard to remark “Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” The same could be said by a resident of the Stann Creek District whom we mistakenly killed off last night. According to a usually reliable source in the south, one Byron Williams of Pomona New Site died of injuries suffered when his taxi ran into the back of a bus on the Valley Road early Saturday morning…and looking at these photos such a conclusion would be justified. The report was in error, however, in several respects. Firstly, the driver’s name is Vernon Williams, not Byron. And more importantly, the thirty-two year old Mr. Williams is very much alive in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He has undergone one operation on his intestines and awaits a second surgery on his legs. Our apologies go out to any family members and friends who may have suffered as a result of our erroneous report.
