Accused rapist claims innocence

Story PictureAlso in court, the trial of accused rapist, DJ/hotel owner Lewis Leiva, continued today. During day four, very interesting tidbits came out in testimony. Leiva testified and gave his version of the events on the night of July eleventh, 2007, for which he is being charged. Leiva admitted to having sexual intercourse with an American national, who was on holiday in Belize, but claimed it was consensual. He said that after taking his accuser and her sister on a city tour, one of them began to kiss him. Later that night, they all attended a party during which he was invited to the sisters’ room. According to Leiva, he went to their hotel room and asked if he could kiss the alleged victim goodnight. Leiva said that after their sexual encounter, he wanted to leave, but the woman didn’t want him to. Leiva also testified that the following day, one of the women tried to blackmail him and asked his wife for compensation and monies for two nights at the Red Hut Inn. Because they refused to pay, the women went to the police and he was charged with rape. That was Leiva’s account and the case continues tomorrow before Judge Adolph Lucas in the Supreme Court.
