Victim of Cayo assault dies from head injuries

An assault on a Cayo man has resulted in his death. According to police reports, just before midnight on Sunday, thirty-two year old construction worker Karim Zaiden was sitting in front of his home on the Bullet Tree Road when three men jumped him. Apparently one of his attackers kicked Zaiden and the blow caused the victim to hit his head on the lamp post. Zaiden fell unconscious and despite attempts by his sister to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Ignacio hospital. According to San Ignacio police, a post mortem has been scheduled for tomorrow morning to determine the exact cause of death. As for a motive behind the attack, investigators say their questioning of Zaiden’s associates and friends have not yet uncovered the reason for the assault.
