But Cardona’s cousin says it’s all poli-tricks

Story PictureCardona has been trying to make a comeback politically but his main opponent is believed to be Landy Burns who is also in the construction business in Orange Walk. That is the reason that Cervantes says, Cardona prefers to take his constituents’ Pro forma invoices to San Isidro Construction Center.

Ramon Cervantes, Co-owner, San Isidro Construction Center (Via Phone)
“The root of this problem is that mister, everybody knows in Orange Walk, a small town, understands that Mister Landy Burns is trying to unseat Marcel Cardona. And thus, he is trying to cut off Marcel from doing any projects, between him and Gaspar Vega. You know and everybody knows there is a fight that Gaspar Vega and Landy Burns and that crew are trying to unseat Marcel and to destroy him. And Marcel is just standing up like a man, like a brave man. And ahm, so we are just caught in the middle. I mean, if Landy is trying to unseat Marcel, I don’t think he can expect that Marcel wants to buy from him. Marcel will buy from anybody else except from Landy’s, because Landy’s is one of the elements that is trying to unseat him.”

Jose Sanchez
“If you would find that the other constituents in Orange Walk are directing their funds mostly to Landy’s and Sons would that be an issue? Landy is trying to unseat Cardona.”

Michael Finnegan, Minister of Housing
“It would be an issue to me. I would ask and say “Only Landy sell construction material?” And I hope they no di do that. No only Landy sell construction material. Share the wealth and share it good.”

Jose Sanchez
“They are saying, San Isidro/Munchie is saying this is about Landy versus Cardona.”

Michael Finnegan
“This got nothing to do with Landy versus no San Isidro. I di say eh look bad that this man di direct every god copper that was given to that division to a family company. To me that look bad.”

Jules Vasquez, Channel 7
“Why have you chosen to single out Marcel Cardona?”

Michael Finnegan
“I have not chosen to single out Marcel Cardona. This morning, Cardona was organizing calls from his division to bring the ministry of Housing into disrepute. And so I had to call in to get matters cleared up.”

Jose Sanchez
“Let me ask you, you were very upset this morning. You used some very strong words and I quote, you said “you are ready to hang him down by his neck for stepping on the wrong shoes?””

Michael Finnegan
“Politically, politically, don’t misinterpret my, my words. That’s politically I’m talking about.”

Jules Vasquez
“So have you or someone spoken to Marcel or someone spoken from the ministry?”

Michael Finnegan
“Yes, from the ministry and tell him we will cancel the rest of orders.”

Finnegan says that homeowners who are receiving assistance under the Venezuela Housing Program have a right to decide at which hardware store they want to obtain construction materials.
