CD puts local twist on Christmas songs

Story PictureThe drumming of November nineteenth was still reverberating when Christmas songs began to usher in the holiday season on the local airwaves. But if you are tired of hearing the same old songs and want to update your musical collection, two youths from Belize City just might have what you are looking for on the CD, Caribbean Christmas Mix.

Horace Bryce, Singer, Bryce Simpson
“If you notice, people only have the CDs like way back in the days like Kenny Rogers, just to name a few guys, but we want to up tempo this thing, give it a new flavour, a new look, a new feel.”

Kendoyll Simpson, Producer, Bryce Simpson
“Track one, We Three Kings, it’s a mixture of Dancehall and Reggaeton; Oh Holy Night, Reggae; Go Tell it on the Mountain, it’s a Soca mix; Joy to the World, Reggaeton; The First Noel, like a Pop Reggae; It came Upon a Midnight Clear, that’s like a chant rhythm.”

Horace Bryce
“We chose the Christmas CD because everybody needs to have the Christmas spirit because Christmas is a time not only for giving, it’s for sharing, let everybody know that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season.”

Caribbean Christmas Mix is available at Record Shack, Venus, CY’s and DJ Tambran for twenty-five dollars. The CD can also be purchased from the musicians, who can be contacted at 604-4469 and 601-2272 or at their webpage www.myspace.com/brycesimpsonbze.
