Two Cayo men busted with over 100lbs of weed
Tonight two residents of the Cayo district are charged with Drug Trafficking after more than a hundred pounds of marijuana was found in their car. According to police reports, around twelve-thirty Monday afternoon, customs officials were working a checkpoint in the Central Farm area when they stopped a vehicle that was emitting a very distinctive odour. The officers called in the cops who quickly discovered two large crocus sacks containing what they suspected to be cannabis. The drugs weighed in at forty nine kilograms or one hundred and eight pounds. Belmopan police immediately arrested the car’s occupants, thirty-three year old Santa Elena taxi driver Edward Castellanos and thirty year old Arenal villager, William Ruiz. Sources close to the investigation say that Castellanos was charged earlier this year for a similar offence but his case has yet to be heard in court.
