Plane crashes in Corozal; no serious injuries
Tonight eleven passengers and a pilot are counting their blessings after they survived a crash-landing in Corozal. News Five understands that the single engine Cessna Caravan, belonging to Maya Island Air, had just taken off from the airstrip in Ranchito Village at around five fifteen this evening when it apparently experienced engine failure. The pilot, Nigel Flowers, steered the plane into a cattle pasture less than a mile away from the airstrip. While the aircraft was extensively damaged, we understand that no one on board was seriously injured, although a pregnant woman was among those taken for treatment at the Corozal Town Hospital. Four of the passengers who suffered minor injuries felt well enough to continue on their way to San Pedro on another plane.
