Toy maker puts different spin on popular gift
With the Christmas season upon us, parents are already on the prowl for presents. One toy on the market this year is an old school truck. According to creator Joel “Dara” Robinson, his all terrain vehicle comes complete with a custom paint job, power steering, and natural air conditioning. Robinson says he decided to use beaver board and bottle caps to appeal to nostalgic parents.

“I try put as much things together as how we used to do it inna the past except we no use the cotton wheel. I try even strength it and cut out the wood and mek some wood fu the wheels and thing you know. … And the beauty behind it, you no need no battery or no remote weh wah give trouble. All it need dah the energy, once the kid healthy and gat energy, that’s all you need and the whole day they could run it round and I even guarantee that this toy will outlast many of the other toys dem that deh out because I mek it strong. Unless they whap it with a hammer or stone it down, dat dah the only way it wah break, but I made them real strong.”
The toys sell for twenty dollars each. If you are interested in the trucks, please contact Robinson at the B.T.L. Park on Sunday evenings or in front of Venus Photo and Records on Albert Street.
