Prosecution closes case in Ganzie murder trial

In court news, the prosecution has closed its case against accused murderer Louis “Louie Ganzie” Gentle. As part of her submissions, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl Lynn Branker-Tait called seven witnesses including the victim’s grandmother, Gilda Johnson. Johnson testified that around four a.m. on January third, she heard her granddaughter Takeisha Sutherland cry out and then saw her lying on the floor of the house. The grandmother went on to claim that a short time later she saw Gentle leaving the home on his bicycle. Forensic expert Dr. Mario Estradabran also took the stand, telling the court that while Sutherland was stabbed twenty-one times, the wound that killed her was the one that went five inches into her heart. The defence was scheduled to begin presenting its case today, but attorney Dickie Bradley asked for more time to locate an alibi witness. Apparently, Ganzie will assert that on the day of the murder, he was not at Sutherland’s Racoon Street home. Ganzie is the father of two of the victim’s four children. The case will resume in the courtroom of Justice Troadio Gonzalez on Monday morning.
