Puga fired from post at prison

Story PictureThe embarrassing arrest of a senior prison official over the weekend has cost him his job. According to Chairman of the Kolbe Foundation John Woods, on Wednesday morning thirty-two year old Oscar Puga showed up at Hattieville Prison where he was paid off and terminated as the facility’s Deputy Chief of Security. Over the weekend, Puga was arrested after police at the Western Highway checkpoint found him travelling with three prisoners around ten forty-five on Saturday night. Accused murderer Taedron Bennett was driving, Puga was in the front passenger seat while Bennett’s co-defendant Joseph Kee and Harry Trapp Junior, serving a twenty-five year sentence for manslaughter, were in the back. Police have since charged the three prisoners with Escape while Puga is accused of Wilfully Allowing Prisoners to Escape and Contempt of a Judicial Order. Puga was offered and met bail and the case against him has been adjourned until January thirtieth. According to Woods, since the incident, all procedures have been reviewed and revamped and the prison is now looking for “good staff to beef up security”. As for the joyriding prisoners, we understand all their privileges, right down to pillow cases, have been revoked as punishment for their involvement in the infraction.
