Gales Point murderer sentenced to life
A Gales Point villager convicted of his cousin’s murder will spend the rest of his life behind bars. This afternoon, twenty-six year old Elvis Myers appeared before Justice John Gonzalez and begged for leniency. His attorney Anthony Sylvestre Jr. also spoke on his client’s behalf, asking the judge not to impose the death sentence. After hearing those mitigation pleas, Gonzalez handed down a life sentence as punishment to Myers for the fatal 2005 shooting of Winfield Slusher Junior and an additional year for the wounding of police constable Keith Cruz during the same incident. The sentences are to run concurrently.
