Couple in Court for handling stolen goods
Only a week ago, forty year old Warren Allen Logan pleaded guilty to Handling Stolen Goods after he and his common-law-wife Stephanie Hemsley, were found in possession of a DVD player and other small items that were stolen from Josephine Waller. Well today the couple was back in court, again on a charge of Handling Stolen Goods. This time they were caught with a flat screen television that was reportedly stolen from Elizabeth Gomez on August ninth. Hemsley again took the rap and pleaded guilty, explaining to Magistrate Banner that he bought the TV from a friend, but did not know it was stolen. He also reiterated that Hemsley had no knowledge of the items in the house because she was in Belmopan. Magistrate Emmerson Banner imposed a fine of one thousand, five hundred dollars of which five hundred was to be paid forthwith and the balance by September fifteenth. But Logan could not pay the fine and so today he began an eighteen-month sentence in prison. He also has an outstanding fine of seven hundred and fifty dollars from last week’s case and another thousand dollars from a previous charge. The charge against Hemsley was withdrawn.
