Popular fried chicken shop closed by Immigration Dept.
When the butane dealers went on strike she was forced to close her restaurant because the gas ran out. Today the popular fried chicken emporium Li Chee is again shut tight … only this time it’s because proprietor Yanli Tan was raided by immigration officers and charged with employing five foreign workers without obtaining work permits. The forty-one year old Tan pleaded not guilty and was released on five thousand dollars bail. Her next court date is December fifth. Tan’s attorney, Hubert Elrington, showed the court a letter from the Immigration Department indicating approval of the work permits but it appears that tan never did pay the five hundred dollar fee for each applicant.
