News 5 reporters win regional awards
The winners of the regional media awards sponsored by the Pan American Health Organization have been announced and a story by News Five’s Janelle Chanona has been singled out for recognition. Janelle’s 2006 stories on the closing and subsequent reopening of Kenji Bakery by Health inspectors earned the F.A.O. award for best television news report. Chanona will travel to Barbados next month for the PAHO awards ceremony. That announcement comes on the heels of the Caribbean Broadcasting Awards presented each year by the Caribbean Broadcasting Union in which Kendra Griffith’s story on the B.D.F.’s jungle training efforts received top honours as the region’s best TV feature story. It is worth noting that all those award winning reports were shot and edited by News Five’s George Tillett.
