Palacio, Duran honoured at World Music Expo

We have all heard about the major accolade being bestowed on Andy Palacio and Ivan Duran in Spain earlier this week and now we have the picture to prove it. The veteran musician and his producer were honoured Sunday night with the prestigious Womex Award at the World Music Expo held in Seville Spain. The award is presented every year to the individual or organisation that represents the best of what the world music community has to offer. Additionally the album Watina, by Palacio and the Garifuna Collective, was selected as the number one world music album of 2007 by the World Music Charts Europe DJ’s. Following the presentation of the Womex award Palacio and the band, along with two singers from Umalali, the Garifuna Women’s Project, performed for the large crowd at the Al-Andalus Theatre.
