Benque cops chase marijauneros near border

Police in Benque Viejo have been busy busting Guatemalans involved in the heavy cross border marijuana trade. On Monday morning they stopped two suspicious men carrying knapsacks and found seven pounds of weed in one and four pounds in another. Twenty year old Armando DeJesus Jimenez of Dolores, Guatemala and twenty-one year old Nelson Otoniel Garcia of Flores were arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking. The following night cops on mobile patrol on the Arenal Road encountered a suspicious red Nissan Sentra that sped off when it saw the police vehicle. Following a high speed chase the occupants ditched the car and escaped, leaving only a young woman inside. Accompanying her, however, were four sacks containing two hundred pounds of cannabis. Twenty-five year old Elbia Catalan, a Guatemalan domestic of Church Street in Benque Viejo, has been detained pending charges.
