Two murder trials begin in Supreme Court

Story PictureIn other judicial news, this time in the Supreme Court, twelve jurors were empanelled before Justice Troadio Gonzalez this morning in the murder trial of Elvis Myers. The accused is charged with the Boxing Day, 2005 shooting death of Winfield Slusher Junior in Gales Point. The incident occurred at a bram on the night of December twenty-sixth in the village. Myers was also charged with Wounding, Attempted Murder, and Use of Deadly means of Harm against Police Constable Keith Cruz, Aggravated Assault upon the deceased’s father Winfield Senior, Wounding Ioney Slusher, and discharging a firearm in public. He is represented in court by Attorney Anthony Sylvestre, while Crown Counsel Nigel Ebanks is prosecuting. The case resumes at nine tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, the murder trial of Julio Che of Ladyville is also underway in the courtroom of Justice Adolph Lucas. Che is accused of stabbing Alberto Jaime Serano to death on the night of October twenty-ninth, 2005. Ladyville police received reports of a body lying on the side of the road at mile ten on the Northern Highway, but when they arrived at the scene near the Ladyville Technical High School all they found were blood stains. Earlier that night Serano, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest, had been taken to the K.H.M.H. by an unidentified person. He died while undergoing treatment. Police believe the accused and the deceased were drinking earlier in the day. Che is defended by Attorney Antoinette Moore while prosecutor is Crown Counsel Tracey Sosa.
