Fundraiser for Saint John’s Anglican Cathedral

Story PictureRemember the recent earthquake on May twenty-eight that shook homes countrywide and measured at a whopping seven point one on the Richter scale? While the epicenter of the quake was off the coast of Nicaragua, locally it created sinkholes and caused extensive damages, destroying parts of the reef, houses in the south and water reservoirs in villages. The historic Saint John’s Anglican Cathedral was also affected and this Saturday the church’s Restoration Committee is hosting its thirteenth annual International Food Fest. The funds will be used for needed repairs of the cathedral’s walls and windows. Committee member, Dale Ramclam, spoke to News Five about the event.

“Also some of the money that is raised from this year’s food fiesta will be for the renovations of the benches and also the painting of the walls in the cathedral. It’s a great family event and it also starts the September celebrations around this time.”

“So what can people expect come Saturday? What kind of foods etcetera will be there?”

Dale Ramclam
“We’ll have cow-foot soup, we’ll have relleno, we’ll have sweet and sour chicken, we have food from Radisson, you name it, it will be out there for the whole family. So you don’t have to cook, you just have to come out there and be a part of it and it’s not going to be expensive—the highest we are going to go is eight dollars a plate. There’ll be music, there’ll be fun out there, there’ll be place to sit down—to come around and meet old friends and be a part of this festival season around this time of the year. We are hoping to make as much as we can, if we can make a million dollars it would be good. But whatever we get we are grateful to God for it.”

The event begins at eleven in the morning and ends at five p.m.
