DJ on trial for rape of American tourist
And in the courts, a deejay is on trial for the alleged rape of an American tourist vacationing at la Isla Bonita. The incident happened on July twelfth 2007 and the victim is a twenty year old who had just graduated from a U.S. high school. The man facing the music is thirty eight year old Luis Leiva who allegedly entered a room at Red Hut Inn, which he partly owns, and forced himself on the teen. The victim, who was a teen at the time, claims that she and her sister had attended a party earlier that evening at another section of the Inn. She said Leiva made advances on her, but because he was married, she rejected him and left the party. But later that night, Leiva went knocking on their door and when her sister opened it, he told her he had only come to tell her sister good night. The sister returned to her sleeping quarters, but didn’t find out until after the incident that her sister had been raped. She told the court late this evening that she witnessed the entire act, but she thought her sister was having consensual sex. The trial began on Thursday before Justice Adolph Lucas and continues on Monday morning. Prosecutor in the case Crown Counsel, Triennia Young and Leiva is being represented by attorney David Moralez.
