Local entertainers release second CD

Story PictureThey made a splash on the Belizean music scene a couple years ago with their hit “Sugar Daddy” and today Belizean Entertainment is hoping history will repeat itself for its latest offering entitled “Dirty Looks Riddim.” The album’s twenty-one tracks feature a variety of artists and is a collaboration between the group and the newly formed Eight Ball Records of San Ignacio. This morning they stopped by our studios.

Ronny Leiva, Eight Ball Records
“It’s fully loaded; I think it caters to everybody’s likes and depending on what you like I think you’ll find it on the CD.”

Amilcar Vasquez, Member, Belizean Entertainment
“We have different artists of different backgrounds. We have some Rasta guys, we some Latin guys, even a Garifuna person in it. So what we’re trying to do is diversify a bit on it and then we also have some bonus tracks, which include hip-hop, Spanish hip-hop and of course a bit of reggae.

Ronny Leiva
“It was produced and mastered and recorded, even the duplication; everything was done in Eight Ball Records. Belizean Entertainment has been an inspiration to Eight Ball Records to open something like this because especially the talent that these guys have we thought that Eight Ball could be a stepping stone for not only Belizean Entertainment but all the groups in the country, especially in San Ignacio and Santa Elena.”

Amilcar Vasquez
“Belize on a whole has a lot of talent in different musical fields. What we’re trying to do is bring the professional standards of urban music-that is dancehall, reggae, hip hop-higher and so that all the different types of public can appreciate it.”

The CD is available at the major music stores for twenty dollars. The group plans to host a CD release party at the Stork Club in San Ignacio on October twenty-eighth.
