US Imports burglars in Court

Kenrick Sanchez

Two men were today charged with Handling Stolen Goods in the courtroom of Magistrate Dorothy Flowers. They appeared separately, but both charges were in connection with the recent robbery at US Imports on Cleghorn Street. Thirty-eight year old taxi driver, Randolph Audinett, pleaded not guilty and was released on bail of one thousand, five hundred dollars. His case was adjourned until November twenty-fourth. Thirty-year-old Kenrick Sanchez, however, chose to plead guilty to the charge since nine hundred and eighth dollars in stolen items were found at his home. But Sanchez explained in mitigation that he is a retail businessman and he purchased the car stereo, speakers, amplifier and portable charger from a taxi-man, not knowing that they were stolen. Since he is a first time offender, Magistrate Flowers imposed a non-custodial sentence and fined him one thousand five hundred dollars, which he must pay by December thirty-first. According to US Imports owner, Walid El Sayed, his business was burglarized between six p.m. on October twelfth and seven-thirty a.m. on October thirteenth. A total of fourteen thousand, one hundred and seventy-five dollars in items were stolen.
