Hondurans get 5 years for San Pedro theft
Two illegal immigrants, including a fifteen year old boy, will spend the next five years behind bars after they pleaded guilty to Theft and Damage to Property. Forty year old Willy Nunez and the minor today received prison sentences of three years for the theft charge and two years for the property damage. Both sentences are to run consecutively. Police say that following a tip they went to Wet Willy’s dock in San Pedro Town around ten-fifteen last night. There they found Nunez, dressed in full black, who jumped through a window and ran into the sea when he spotted the officers approaching. He was captured and found to be an illegal immigrant from Honduras. On the pier police found a container with seven gallons of fuel which had been stolen from a damaged boat in the water. When police investigated further, they discovered that Nunez was acting along with an accomplice, a fifteen year old boy who was later detained. Police believe the two entered Belize illegally last weekend aboard a skiff that was found nearby. That skiff has been impounded pending investigations into its ownership. An additional charge of Burglary has been lodged against the duo to which they have entered a plea of not guilty. That case will come up on November fourteenth.
