Suspect detained in Mile 8 shooting
Twenty-seven year old tour guide Angel Dorado is home tonight recovering from a bullet wound he received during an incident that unfolded in his neighbourhood last night. Dorado reported to police that around nine-thirty on Monday night he was riding his girlfriend on the handle of his bicycle on a street in the Mile Eight community on the Western Highway when he was approached by a dark complexioned man wearing a dark warm cap who was also riding a bike. Dorado says as the man approached them, he fired three shots. The bullets caught Dorado in his upper left thigh and he was admitted to ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, but by this morning he had already been discharged. Police say Dorado has been cooperating with them and they have since detained one person in connection with the shooting. The motive, however, is still unclear.
