Teen dead in Northern Highway rollover
Another fatal traffic accident has occurred, this time on the Northern Highway. Police reports are that around ten-thirty last night officers were called to an area between miles seventeen and eighteen where they found an extensively damaged burgundy Ford Explorer on the right side of the road with its four wheels in the air. Closer inspection revealed that someone was still trapped in the wreckage. With the assistance of fire officials, cops were able to free the man, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The deceased has since been identified as nineteen year old Ricardo Noble, a resident of Dean Street in Belize City. While cops were at the hospital, they also learnt that a second person involved in the crash, Jose Rodriguez, was being treated for head and body injuries. Up to news time tonight, police say they have been unable to verify whether Rodriguez was the driver as he is still receiving medical care. However, police strongly suspect that whether driver or passenger, Noble was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. As for the cause of the accident, police tell News Five that one of the vehicle’s front tyres was deflated but it is still uncertain whether the S.U.V. experienced a blow-out or if the air was released when the Explorer flipped over.
