Names released of dead and injured in traffic accident
Police have still not laid any charges against the drivers of the bus or the truck involved in last week’s traffic accident in which six people lost their lives and eighteen were injured. The truck, driven by thirty-four year old Michael Escalante, was heading towards Belize City while the bus, driven by Tyrone Gillett, was heading towards Belmopan, when they collided into each other. The incident occurred near mile thirty-five on the Western Highway shortly after eleven Wednesday morning. Killed were forty-one year old Elvis Gillett of Orange Walk Town, twenty-three year-old Gustavo Castillo of San Estevan Village, thirty-five year-old Emelita Gordon of Caye Caulker, sixty-one year old Cordilia Lamb of Belmopan, twenty-one year old Galindo Casado , a Guatemalan, and twenty-six year old Kelly Marie Richendollar of the U.S. Those injured included six year old Simon Mejia, seven year old Kenia Erskin, and Delami Hernandez, all in critical condition at the K.H.M.H. twenty-two year old Kimako Broaster, thirty year old Allison Louise Teel of the U.S, forty-three year old Lara Bood, forty-one year old Duncan Smith, twenty-three year old Tiffany Fortune, twenty year old Brantany Lopez, and Nelson Tillett all suffered serious injuries. Twenty-three year old Police Constable Ceford Miles, along with Danny Mesh, Herman Erskin, Araceli Ariaga, and Heidy Williams, were all treated and released. The truck driver, thirty-four year old Michael Escalante, is in critical condition at the K.H.M.H. while the bus driver, Tyron Gillett, suffered injuries to his left knee and his left side. His conductor, twenty year old Alex Lyons, suffered injuries to the pelvic area.
