International artists to headline weekend concerts
The concerts aren’t part of the official celebrations calendar but over the next three days, Belizeans will be able to sample the musical fare of a number of visiting performers. News Five’s Marion Ali has the playbill.

This weekend, Belizeans will celebrate the country’s 26th anniversary of independence with a variety of international artists. Among the favourites are Tarrus Riley, Black Er, Kiprich, Super P, and Oscar B. The performers will hit the stage at different locations tonight and tomorrow.
Tarrus Riley’s “She’s Royal” and “Stay With You” have been big hits in Belize.

“Most definitely they are personal experience and other people experiences as well. So some of them are my personal experiences and some of them are your personal experiences, yoh noh? The music is non-religious and its non-political, but its still spiritual, cause we don’t want to offend anyone.”
For soca fans, Oscar B will strut his stuff on Marine Parade in front of the Radisson Fort George Hotel.

“I could tell you for sure you can expect an exciting performance, good show, I mean the cast is a good line up of local acts. The band has won Battle of the Bands and of course your truly, Oscar B, so it’s a good line up. And you’re going to get the old tunes tonight, you’re going to get some nice reggae music. We’re going to be doing a wide cross section of music.”
Tomorrow Oscar B will be joined on stage at the Cahal Pech Night Club by Super P who plans to “wine on your curry”.

“It’s going to be excitement, total excitement tomorrow night, Cahal Pech! Ladies I come to sing for you, full course meal, tune after tune, hits after hits, Super P. See you in the place tomorrow night, Cahal Pech! Super P’s live yes! Woman please I don’t want to wine on your curry. I’ll be there, Cahal Pech.[Sings] We’ll be there in the place with Oscar B.”
At the Old Belize tonight are Kiprich and Black Er.

“I’ve been on the scene about eight years now so I have a lot of hits, underground hits, new hits, yeah man a lot of hits, like you know ‘Telephone’, ‘liquor Mek Yoh Mad ina Di Club’, ‘the letter song’, the recent one ‘Zebra and Tiger Tribute’. Zebra ah u wahn soun like me? So it’s a lot of hits.”

“Ladies when you have a man and him a treat yoh good, don’t give him a bun. But when yoh have a man and him a go treat yoh bad, weh yoh fi do, Bun Him. That’s me.”
The three artists performing tonight at Old Belize have one main message of positivity toward women, amplified best by Tarrus Riley.

Tonight’s concert at Old Belize starts at nine. The Oscar B concert near the Radisson Fort George Hotel is also scheduled to begin at nine. Oscar B and Super P’s performances at the Cahal Pech Night Club tomorrow, are also set to start at nine. In a last bit of entertainment news fireworks have been planned for nine and midnight tonight at the Memorial Park.
