Courts helps out Salvation Army
Today the Salvation Army received some much needed funds to help in one
of the organisation’s social service programmes. The short ceremony took place at Courts on the Northern Highway.
Keith Slater, Managing Director, Courts Belize Ltd.
“We were having a booth at Expo and we thought it would be a very good opportunity just to raise some funds for local charities. Our staff are good at doing things like that and we support the Salvation Army pretty much since we’ve been in Belize. So it was a good opportunity just to have a bit of fun and raise some funds for them. So essentially what we did, we had a little booth there with balloons and you paid a dollar for two darts and if you broke a balloon you got a little prize, and everybody had a lot of fun, it was a good day, a good two days.”
Major Errol Robateau, Regional Commander, Salvation Army
“Throughout the year we have a monthly food programme for the elderly, sixty years and over, and that’s where this fund will be going. The elderly comes in once per month, they come on any day they feel like coming on and we give them food parcels and this continues for the twelve months of the year. So this will help us to carry on that aspect of our work, which is just one of many.”
The Courts donation totalled one thousand, two hundred and nineteen dollars and fifty cents.
