Four men charged for handling stolen pickup parts

Story PictureAlso in court, four men have been charged with Handling Stolen Goods after police recovered what was left of a stolen Mitsubishi L-200 pickup. The vehicle, which belonged to the owner of GS COM George Sosa, was stolen from the King’s Park area on July twenty-sixth of this year. And over the weekend the pan of pickup and other parts were found all the way in Caledonia Village in Corozal. Police detained Ensfield Gillett, Egbert Ferguson and Paul Hemsley, all Belize City residents. They were taken before a magistrate in Corozal. Police also found the vehicle’s engine in the old capital at the home of fifty-two year old mechanic, Richard Bennett. Bennett, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to the charge and told the court that he bought the engine for two thousand dollars from the men who were found in possession of the other vehicle parts. Bail was granted in the sum of two thousand dollars, which Bennett met by four this evening. He is to return to court on October twenty-third.
