Fakee Game Room owner dies in traffic accident

Story PictureIn other news, Hua Fa He, the proprietor of Fakee Game Room on Douglas Jones Street in Belize City, is dead tonight following a traffic accident just before midnight. Thirty-five year old Hua succumbed to injuries a few hours later. According to police, Hua was traveling in his black Isuzu Trooper with three passengers towards Ladyville at about eleven o’clock Tuesday night. Between miles three and four on the northern highway, a Nissan Pathfinder, also heading in the same direction and driven by twenty-six year old Lining Wu, attempted to overtake the trooper. Wu lost control of his Pathfinder and collided into Hua causing the Trooper to flip several times before coming to a stop. Hua was thrown out of his vehicle and was taken to the hospital but he died early this morning. Officer in Charge of the Traffic Department, Assistant Superintendent Francis Williams, told News Five more on the tragic accident.

Francis Williams, O.C., Traffic Department, Belize City Police
“Initial investigations do confirm that there s in fact a Chinese businessman of Douglas Jones Street in Belize City had lost his life last night.”

Duane Moody
“Who were in the vehicle—who were the two parties involved? And your initial investigations have revealed that what was the cause of the accident?”

Francis Williams
“Well, we are still investigating the actual cause of the accident. He was traveling along the northern highway en route to let’s say the direction of Ladyville. And whilst being overtaken by another vehicle driven by another Chinese businessman, the vehicle collided into the rear of the vehicle in front, which caused him to lose control and overturn on the left hand side of the road. In the process, of course a B.E.L. lamppost was damaged. The driver of that first vehicle that was in front was flung out and he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the K.H.M.H. sometime after one a.m. this morning.”

Duane Moody
“Was this person accompanied in that vehicle by anyone else?”

Francis Williams
“Yes, the vehicle from where the deceased person was driving, did have some passengers in it—two female passengers and a police officer from Belize City.”

Duane Moody
“Did they received any injuries?”

Francis Williams
“Minor injuries were sustained to these passengers.”

Duane Moody
“And they have been released?”

Francis Williams
“Treated and released up to this time.”

Duane Moody
“We’re any of the drivers in this incident intoxicated or anything of that sort?”

Francis Williams
“I cannot say that at this time, we are still within the preliminary stage of the investigation. Most of the time you could see drivers well in excess of the speed limit within these populated area.”

Duane Moody
“And do you guys believe that that is the case in this incident?”

Francis Williams
“I cannot comment on that right now, Duane, but we are looking at all aspects as to what may have happened out there last night.”

Traveling with Hua were Shawn Faber, Nancy Ramos and a fifteen year old minor who all received minor injuries. Williams says that a charge is pending for Wu.
